about
This song is part of a larger body of work written by Jane Singer, entitled Green Zone Blues: Voices of War, and was inspired by the true story of a soldier who suffered a brain injury when her unit was hit by a roadside bomb in Iraq. When she came home she couldn't remember her two year old daughter, her life before the war, and worst of all, she couldn't remember love. Green Zone Blues: Voices of War is a series of dramatic monologues; the imagined words of men and women caught in the cross hairs of our troubled time. Soldiers, terrorists, rescuers and the rescued speak of struggle, duty, redemption and shame.
